Stalin Slams Centre Over Delhi Protests, Offers Legal Aid to Detainees

The party also demands the removal of CEC Kumar, he said in a post on X.

Chennai: Strongly condemning the Union government's crackdown on youth activists who participated in the protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in Delhi, DMK president M K Stalin on Wednesday declared that his party stands fully prepared to extend complete legal aid to those detained.
The party also demands the removal of CEC Kumar, he said in a post on X.
Stating that the protesters have been leading demonstrations demanding the removal of Kumar, Stalin questioned the efficacy of state-imposed silencing measures, warning that "heavy-handed" tactics against peaceful demonstrators would only fuel broader public outrage and draw ordinary citizens into the streets.
"How many protesters can this government detain? How many young voices can the BJP silence?" he asked. "The more young people they jail, the more ordinary citizens, with no political affiliation, will take to the streets and show them the true power of the people!"
In a strong gesture of political solidarity, the DMK chief specifically named detained activists Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Dass, announcing that his party stands fully prepared to provide comprehensive legal representation and support to secure their release.
