Shivraj Slams Mohan Yadav Over Tribal Eviction: "He became CM on Their Votes"

Union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has hit out at the Mohan Yadav government over the removal of encroachment, affecting 12 tribal families, in Budhni, falling under his Lok Sabha constituency of Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh, calling it ‘gross injustice’ to them.

Bhopal: Union agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has hit out at the Mohan Yadav government over the removal of encroachment, affecting 12 tribal families, in Budhni, failing under his Lok Sabha constituency of Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh, calling it ‘gross injustice’ to them.

Mr. Chouhan, while visiting the affected families of the anti-encroachment drive in Kosmi village under Budhni Assembly constituency, said that they are BJP voters and reminded chief minister Mohan Yadav that it is because of their votes, he became the CM.

The forest department said that it launched an anti-encroachment drive in the area.

The houses of the 12 tribal families were demolished and their standing crops were also allegedly destroyed in the drive.

Mr. Chouhan termed it a ‘conspiracy’ by some officials to malign BJP and said that he will take up the matter with chief minister Mr. Yadav.

“It is a conspiracy to harm the image of the party.

It also seems to be a conspiracy to malign the image of the chief minister. They (the affected tribal families) are BJP voters and Mohan ji became chief minister because of their votes”, he said.

He accused the forest department officials, involved in the demolition drive, of the height of oppression and injustice and questioned if they would accept similar treatment to their children, mothers and wives.

Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader Umang Singhar on Monday took strong exception to the demolition of the houses of the 12 tribal families, terming it a ‘fallout of the raging power struggle between Mr. Chouhan and Mr. Yadav’.

The 12 tribal families have paid the price for the ongoing power struggle in the ruling BJP, he claimed.

This the third time, Mr. Chouhan explicitly targeted Mr. Yadav over different issues.

In June 2025, he pulled up the Mohan Yadav government for the eviction drive in Kheoni Wildlife Sanctuary falling under Budhni Assembly constituency which affected the local tribals.

The local divisional forest officer (DFO) was transferred following this.

Three months ago, he took a jibe at the Mohan Yadav government for demanding enhancement of moong procurement by the Centre, saying that it failed to even procure the quota of moong, allocated to the state.
