Shah: Didi's Fall 'Written On Wall', Our CM In WB To Be Non-TMC

On Ms Banerjee's fate, Mr Shah told a party rally at Bolpur in Birbhum, “I have come here after traveling across Bengal. And I can read what is written on the wall in front of me: BJP will form the government here on May 5.

Kolkata: Union home minister Amit Shah asserted on Monday that Trinamul Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee's exit as West Bengal chief minister in this Assembly Election has been written on the wall already. He also indicated that the CM of the first BJP government in the state would be a non-TMC one.

On Ms Banerjee's fate, Mr Shah told a party rally at Bolpur in Birbhum, “I have come here after traveling across Bengal. And I can read what is written on the wall in front of me: BJP will form the government here on May 5.” Mr Shah, who later held two rallies at Khoyrashol in the district and Burdwan West and led a roadshow, gave hints about the next CM.

Taking a dig at the speculation in TMC about Ms Banerjee to be succeeded by her MP nephew Abhishek Banerjee as the CM, the union home minister pointed out, “Didi wants her nephew to become the CM. Should her nephew be made the CM? She always spreads lies that Bengal will be run from New Delhi.”

He added, “But I make it clear from this holy land of Kaviguru Rabindranath Tagore that Bengal's next CM will be someone who has been born in Bengal, had his studies in Bengali and can speak Bengali. But Didi, you have no reason to feel happy because that individual neither belongs to TMC nor is your nephew but is a BJP Karyakarta.”

BJP stalwart’s comments about his party's CM-face however are expected to trigger a doubt whether leader of the opposition Suvendu Adhikari, who is contesting at Bhowanipore against Ms Banerjee and Nandigram also, has been dropped out in the race for the top post as he is a TMC turncoat.

Mr Shah also came down heavily on the TMC supremo for passing bucks whenever something happens. “When a riot happens, Didi blames the court for it. When rape takes place, she asks women not to go out of home. When infiltration happens, she blames the Border Security Force. If Bengal lags behind, she finds fault with Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” he alleged.

The union home minister claimed, “Didi, how long will you keep blaming others? People of Bengal have come to know that you and your nephew have been at fault.” He further announced that BJP would conduct a probe into all the riots, which were orchestrated against the Hindus between 2016 and 2026, after it comes to power.

Reiterating that infiltration has become the main agenda of this election, Mr Shah once again tore into the TMC-rule for appeasement politics to retain votebank and vowed to drive out the illegal immigrants from the state to stop demographic change and deprivation of the unemployed youth.
