Sena UBT Asks Speaker for Rebel MPs’ Submissions
He said the Speaker assured them that he would verify the records and update them if any written submission had been made.

New Delhi:The Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) on Wednesday urged Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to share any representation submitted by six rebel MPs who have joined the faction led by Eknath Shinde.
After meeting the Speaker, MPs Anil Desai and Arvind Sawant said they had requested him to uphold constitutional provisions and sought details of any communication made by the rebel MPs.
“We asked him if he had received any appeal from the rebels...” Sawant said, adding that the Speaker informed them that nothing had been received in writing.
Desai said the party had pointed out that under the Tenth Schedule, a group of legislators cannot merge with another party on its own, even if it has a two-thirds majority.
He said the Speaker assured them that he would verify the records and update them if any written submission had been made.
Of the nine Lok Sabha MPs from the faction, six — Nagesh Aashtikar, Sanjay Deshmukh, Sanjay Jadhav, Sanjay Dina Patil, Omprakash Raje Nimbalkar and Bhausaheb Wakchaure — have joined the Shinde-led Shiv Sena. The remaining MPs, including Sawant, Desai and Rajabhau Waje, continue with the Uddhav Thackeray faction.
In February 2023, the Election Commission of India recognised the Shinde-led faction as the official Shiv Sena.
The split in the party in 2022, led by Shinde, had resulted in the fall of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra.
