Samik: Anyone Calling BJP's Practice 'Ganda Dharma' Will Be Eliminated

KOLKATA: In what may trigger a controversy, West Bengal BJP president Samik Bhattacharya warned on Sunday that anyone calling his party's practice Ganda Dharma (bad religion) from the platform of an Eid festival would be eliminated then and there.
He also declared that whoever boasting of being a majority and hence threatening to harm others at will would also be paid back in the same coin. The BJP Rajya Sabha MP was speaking at Khutipuja, a ritual ahead of Durga Puja festival, of Shatadal Sangha in Bowbazar of the city.
“If anyone declares from an Eid-ul-Fitr podium that what BJP is practising is a Ganda Dharma, he will be eliminated by people before he can get down from the dais,” Mr Bhattacharya told the gathering in a fiery speech.
He added, “If anyone dares on this soil to brag about representing 70% while others are 30% and so he will chop and flow them in Bhagirathi River anytime he wants, he will have to be immersed then and there in Bhagirathi River also.”
In an oblique reference to graffiti controversy at Jadavpur University, the state BJP chief pointed out, “Some are writing slogans on the walls after entering university campus. All we want to tell them is that we will not enter any university campus. The police won't either.”
He argued, “But those who are doing it will be identified. Police will have to take action so that such people do not stay fit. Whoever says ‘Bharat Tere Tukre Honge’ has to be made into pieces. This step needs to be taken in West Bengal as we cannot allow it to continue.”
Mr Bhattacharya further alleged that the previous government of Trinamul Congress used to dictate Durga Puja festival by deciding the time of immersion but this year the festival would be different.
