RK Singh Opens IEEMA’s Flagship Event BID 2024

Hyderabad: IEEMA, Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers’ Association, the apex association of the Indian electrical equipment manufacturing industry, launched the 6th edition of the flagship event DistribuELEC andIntELEC with the 3rd Edition of BuildELEC(BID) 2024. The three-day event, scheduled from 16 - 18 January, was inaugurated by the Shri R K Singh, Minister of Power, New & Renewable Energy, Govt. Of India, in Mumbai.

BID 2024 is launched in the backdrop of strong power reforms by the Government of India to support the country's transition from a power deficit to power supply nation. As India's premier exhibition on hi-tech power distribution, this year's edition offers an expansive showcase of products, technologies, and services covering the entire spectrum upto 33KV.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Shri R K Singh, Minister of Power, New & Renewable Energy, Govt. of India, said, "I congratulate IEEMA on kick-starting the proceedings for BuildELEC,IntELEC,DistribuELEC 2024. In the past 9 years, we have brought great transformational changes in our industry, transforming the power sector from being power-deficient to power-sufficient. In the last 9 years, with the addition of 1,90,700ckm (which is about 65% increase), the transmission network of 4,79,185 ckmhas evolved as the largest national synchronous grid in the world. The total inter-regional power transmission capacity is enhanced to 1,16,540 MW, more than double in 9 years. We have set a huge ambition in energy transition and plan to have 500 GW of non-fossilbased electricity installed capacity by 2030. We have installed Renewable Energy capacity of 1,79,570MW (43% of our total capacity) and another 99,000MW is under installation. My Ministry has rolled out the plan for 500 GW Generation as well as transmission system for evacuation of this power."

Mr. HamzaArsiwala, President IEEMA, added,“The fact that BID 2024 has more than doubled in size from the previous edition, is a testament of the growth Indian Electrical Equipment industry is seeing, as a result of the power reforms and the fast pace of transformation that the power sector is undergoing for the past 9 years."

Talking about industry growth, Ms Charu Mathur, Deputy General of IEEMA said, “As a first in BID 2024, 200+ international buyers and 100+ domestic buyers will be meeting 250+ exhibitors in more than 3,000 B2B meetings over the next three days. We expect more than 50,000 visitor footfalls.”

IEEMA also announced its Quality, Safety and Reliability (QSR) Programme is presence of the Hon’ble Power Minister. The QSR programme will have an intense campaign to promote quality amongst the Indian industry.

The event will also witness traditional electrical equipment, including transformers, cables, capacitors, switchgears, meters, insulators, and conductors sharing the spotlight with cutting-edge innovations in distribution automation and control systems, energy efficiency, demand response, advanced metering, communications technologies, cybersecurity, and electrical fire safety.

This year, the esteemed host utility for the event is Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL).
