Condolences Pour In For Fire Accident Victims

The Prime Minister’s Office announced that an ex-Gratia of `2 lakh would be given to the next of kin of each deceased, and `50,000 to the injured under the PM National Relief Fund.

HYDERABAD: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday expressed deep anguish over the loss of lives due to a fire tragedy in the old city of Hyderabad. He offered his condolences to those who lost their loved ones and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. The Prime Minister’s Office announced that an ex-gratia of `2 lakh would be given to the next of kin of each deceased, and `50,000 to the injured under the PM National Relief Fund.

Describing the fire mishap as deeply distressing, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma said, "It is heart-wrenching to learn of the precious lives lost and the injuries sustained in the tragic fire.

My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of immense grief."

Union coal and mines minister and Telangana BJP president G. Kishan Reddy, who was the first among the politicians to rush to the spot after the tragic fire mishap, expressed shock over the loss of lives. He inquired with the officials about the accident and met the family members of the victims, and expressed dismay over the loss of lives.

Kishan Reddy urged the state government to take all necessary precautions, including conducting fire safety audits of buildings to avoid such mishaps in the future. He also said that perfect coordination among all concerned departments — including GHMC, fire services, and the police—would help in extending speedy relief and conducting rescue operations during such incidents.

Stating that it is not appropriate to politicise such incidents, he noted that locals had informed him that the lack of proper modern equipment with the fire service personnel had hampered the relief efforts, as massive smoke had engulfed the building.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday expressed deep grief over the fire accident. "Deeply saddened by the loss of innocent lives in the tragic fire at Gulzar House, Hyderabad. My heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families," Naidu said in a post on ‘X’.

Union MoS (home) Bandi Sanjay Kumar and Mahabubnagar MP D.K. Aruna offered their deepest condolences and assured support to the families of the victims.

BRS senior leader T. Harish Rao expressed sadness over the incident and lambasted the state government for its negligent attitude in preventing fire accidents in Hyderabad city. He demanded an ex-gratia of `25 lakh each for the families of those killed and urged the government to review its fire safety measures.

BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, in a social media post on X, said he was extremely shocked and pained to hear about the fire tragedy in the old city. He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi visited Osmania General Hospital and also Gulzar House, where 17 members of a single joint family died in the fire accident. He called it a deeply painful incident, and said that the mishap was indescribable. He said that the family had been living in the same building, which caught fire, for over 125 years.
