Raut claimed that Shah is positioning himself to be declared Deputy Prime Minister by Modi
Mumbai: Senior Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Sunday alleged that Union Home Minister Amit Shah caused damage to Narendra Modi’s reputation during the students’ protests at Jantar Mantar in Delhi to achieve the Prime Minister’s post.
“The Jantar Mantar protests tarnished Prime Minister Modi’s reputation, and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan lost his post. However, Home Minister Shah – who usually speaks out or growls at the slightest provocation on any issue – remained mysteriously silent on this matter. The mystery behind this silence is currently a topic of discussion in Delhi,” said Raut in his weekly column ‘Rokhthok’ (Point-blank) in Shiv Sena (UBT)’s mouthpiece ‘Saamana.’
The Rajya Sabha MP alleged that the Jantar Mantar protests were allowed to escalate ‘deliberately.’ “There was no reason not to engage in dialogue with the protesters when they reached Parliament. Instead, actions like lathi-charges, tear gas, beatings with nail-studded batons, and the use of pellet guns systematically fueled the youths’ discontent.”
“The youth were effectively stripping Prime Minister Modi of his political dignity, while Amit Shah watched this spectacle unfold like ‘Shakuni.’ His actions only served to make the atmosphere among the youth more volatile, eventually pushing the situation to the extreme point where Pradhan had to resign. Either Shah failed to handle the situation, or he deliberately took steps that allowed this ‘chaos’ to escalate. Why so?” he asked.
Saying that Modi’s tenure as Prime Minister is entering its final phase, Raut claimed that Shah is positioning himself to be declared Deputy Prime Minister by Modi, thereby establishing himself as Modi’s designated successor.
“While it is true that Amit Shah was known as a loyalist to Modi, loyalty often washes away when ambition surges. There is a strong possibility that Amit Shah might do to Modi regarding the Prime Ministership, what Shinde did in Maharashtra regarding the Chief Ministership,” said the Sena UBT leader.
“Shah has begun building his own faction and cultivating his own loyalist MPs. Leaders such as Suvendu Adhikari (West Bengal), Eknath Shinde (Maharashtra), Himanta Biswa Sarma (Assam) and newly appointed Nitin Nabin (BJP National President) belong to Shah’s camp. A dedicated mechanism acting on Shah’s behalf is actively working to create difficulties for and discredit (UP Chief Minister) Yogi Adityanath and (Maharashtra Chief Minister) Devendra Fadnavis whenever possible. Viewing (Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways) Nitin Gadkari and Fadnavis from Maharashtra as the biggest obstacles to his ambitions, Shah’s machinery has begun maneuvering against them,” Raut said.
