Mr.Gandhi’s visit to Madhya Pradesh will certainly revitalize the party in the state - Jitu Patwari

BHOPAL: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to make a seven-hour visit to Madhya Pradesh on June three to launch a revitalization campaign for his party here.

This was announced by state Congress chief Jitu Patwari here on Friday.

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Mr. Gandhi is scheduled to chair a series of meetings of the party members, state working committee, executive committee and political affairs committee of the party here on the day, according to a senior Congress functionary here.

He is also scheduled to address 50 observers appointed by the AICC to visit all the organizational districts in Madhya Pradesh to assess the strength and weaknesses of the party and submit a report to the party, on the occasion.

“Mr. Gandhi’s visit to Madhya Pradesh will certainly revitalize the party in the state”, Mr. Patwari said.

The team of observers comprising MLAs, MPs and former ministers from various states will visit their assigned districts to assess the party's strength and weaknesses in each of the 230 Assembly constituencies in the state.

Mr. Gandhi’s visit to MP is being viewed with significance in the wake of the Central leadership of the party handing over the leadership of Congress in Madhya Pradesh to second generation leaders to galvanize the party.

Former minister Jitu Patwari has replaced veteran Congress leader Kamal Nath as state Congress chief just before the November 2023 Assembly elections.

Similarly, the party leadership has chosen tribal youth leader Umang Singhar as the Congress Legislature Party leader after the party suffered a humiliating defeat at the hand of the ruling BJP in the last Assembly elections in the state.

Mr. Nath was the CLP leader in the last legislative Assembly in the state.
