Probe in Twisha’s Mysterious Death Gains Momentum As CBI Gets 2nd Autopsy Report

The rare second autopsy was conducted on the directive of the Madhya Pradesh high court around 11 days after the first postmortem examination.

Bhopal: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has received the second autopsy report of Twisha Sharma whose mysterious death at her marital home here on May 12 had triggered public outrage.

The CBI, probing into the case, received the autopsy report from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, in a sealed cover, sources said here on Wednesday.

The second autopsy report will give further momentum to the investigation into the case, sources said.

The rare second autopsy was conducted on the directive of the Madhya Pradesh high court around 11 days after the first postmortem examination.

The first postmortem of the 33-year-old model has suggested that the cause of death was ‘antemortem hanging by ligature’, while also documenting multiple simple blunt-force injuries on her body.

The first autopsy was conducted at the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at AIIMS, Bhopal.

Twisha’s family members wanted a second autopsy after raising questions on the police investigation into the case and moved the high court for a direction in this regard.

The forensic team from AIIMS, Delhi, performed the second postmortem examination following a direction by the Madhya Pradesh high court.

According to the report, Twisha was found hanging from a gymnastic ring rope on the terrace of her marital home here at around 10.26 pm on May 12.

Sources said that the CBI may summon Twisha’s mom-in-law Giribala Singh, a retired judge, and husband Samarth, a practicing lawyer, for questioning again in the wake of the release of the second autopsy report.

Giribala and her son, both accused in the case, are currently in judicial custody.
