Prepare For Crushing Defeat In 2029: Amit Shah Hits Back At Rahul Gandhi Over CEC, SIR Protests
The home minister said people of India knew of Gandhi’s plans of “getting infiltrators registered as voters”.

New Delhi:Union minister Amit Shah, in his first remarks on the ongoing protests against CEC Gyanesh Kumar and SIR, told Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and the Opposition to be ready again for a “crushing defeat” in 2029, as the people were with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that the country could see through the Leader of Opposition's “plan” to get infiltrators registered as voters.
Shah said that while the SIR started only in 2024, the Congress had been losing continuously ever since Rahul Gandhi took over the party leadership.
Noting the Congress’ dismal performance in the recent bypolls and local body elections in several states, Shah said the kind of “negative politics” the Congress was engaging in would not benefit it. He said the Congress needed to connect with the public and asked the party to introspect. “You cannot win the trust of the country's people through fabricated media events and echoes of lies,” Shah said, adding that the Congress is on a losing spree for decades now.
The home minister said people of India knew of Gandhi’s plans of “getting infiltrators registered as voters”.
“In the 2029 general elections, the NDA is going to win with a resounding majority, and the Congress is going to face defeat for the fourth consecutive time,” he said. The people of this country are with Narendra Modi ji, with the BJP, with the NDA. You cannot deny this truth.”
Reacting to Monday’s protests, the home minister said the gathering of the cadres of 14 political parties and assembling a crowd of 8,000 in a one-and-a-half-kilometre area did not make Rahul Gandhi the voice of the nation.
“My request to the Congress party is that the voice of the nation is also in the fields and farms, in the villages, in distant hills, in forests, and along riverbanks. You have no reach there.
“In many states of the country — be it Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu — the public has rejected and defeated the Congress party,” he said.
