Show Us True Picture: Ashok Gehlot Questions Govt Over Fuel Shortage Reports

"This is a time of crisis and instead of misleading people, the government should tell the truth so that people can prepare," he said

Jaipur: Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday asked the state government to present the true picture regarding the availability of petrol, diesel and LPG in the state amid reports of fuel shortages at several petrol pumps. Gehlot said visitors who met him informed him that petrol pumps in Jodhpur were supplying petrol and diesel in limited quantities and many outlets had run out of fuel.

People travelling from Jodhpur to Jaipur were forced to refuel multiple times as petrol pumps were allegedly not supplying fuel worth more than Rs 1,000 at a time, he said.

He also claimed that LPG cylinders were not being delivered for several days in some places.

"The government is maintaining that there was no shortage of petrol, diesel or LPG, but petrol pump operators are allegedly saying that verbal instructions had been given to supply fuel in limited quantities," he said.

"This is the reason long queues are being seen at petrol pumps," Gehlot said.

The former chief minister cited media reports claiming that around 40 per cent of petrol pumps in Jodhpur had gone dry.

"This is a time of crisis and instead of misleading people, the government should tell the truth so that people can prepare for any inconvenience and make alternative arrangements," he said.
