Raj Thackeray Targets Madhavan, Vivek Oberoi For Living Abroad While Praising Modi
The MNS chief Raj Thackeray further alleged that several actors return to India primarily to work on what he described as “government-sponsored” films.
Mumbai: Continuing his sharp critique of political supporters in the film industry, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray questioned actor R. Madhavan for choosing to live in Dubai despite publicly praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his governance.
Addressing a youth gathering on the occasion of 20th anniversary of Maharashtra Navnirman Vidyarthi Sena the rally in Mumbai yesterday, Thackeray spoke to his followers.
Raj Thackeray questioned the rationale behind celebrities relocating abroad while endorsing the government's development record at home. He asked, "R. Madhavan, who praised PM Modi — where does he live? He lives in Dubai. So if you love India so much, if you love PM Modi, and if you believe PM Modi is developing India, then why are you living in a foreign land? Why are you living in Dubai with your families?” Thackeray asked.
The MNS leader further alleged that several actors return to India primarily to work on what he described as “government-sponsored” films—citing projects such as Dhurandhar—before heading back to their residences abroad.
In his specch Raj Thackeray claimed that the government has admitted in Parliament that entrepreneurs in this country are leaving. Vivek Oberoi, who played Modi's role in the movie on Modi's life, lives in Dubai. R. Madhavan, who goes on about how everything became great during Modi's time and how the country changed, moves to Dubai with his family. If you think Modi has made everything so great, then why are you settling abroad? These people will come here to work in government-sponsored films and then go back to Dubai. Industrialists are going abroad.
He thanked follower students for the first rally of students after the nationwide protests that followed the chaos in the NEET exam. He said, "When I started my work, the times were different; the issues facing students back then were different, and today's issues are different. Everything has changed entirely. I have witnessed the era from Telegram to Instagram."
He further supported the protest and said,"after the 'Gen Z' protests, there's a lot of talk about Gen Z. But don't assume Gen Z means only urban Gen Z. Just as we need to understand their issues, we must also understand the young men and women in rural Maharashtra from the same age group."
