Humayun Kabir Claims He Will Be Deciding Factor in 2026 Election

The ex-TMC MLA admitted that he was misled, as the two clergymen who attended his foundation-stone-laying ceremony for the proposed Babri Masjid were not from Saudi Arabia

Berhampore: Suspended TMC MLA Humayun Kabir from West Bengal disclosed that his new political party will field candidates against both Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikary, in the upcoming 2026 Assembly election.

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Kabir outlined his next course of action. “My ultimate goals are to unseat and defeat Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee from power and to resist the BJP from capturing power as well. So I will maintain equal distance from both of them with the help of secular, like-minded political parties. Let me form my political party first, then I will campaign in all 135 assemblies with a helicopter. I have already started discussions for hiring a helicopter for the upcoming Assembly election campaign,” he said.

When the media drew his attention to allegations that he had become a stooge of the BJP and a “vote-cutter,” Humayun Kabir fumed, “Who cares! I never care what anybody says about me. Just wait — I will be the deciding factor in the Assembly election and they will become aware of my power.”

However, he admitted that he was misled, as the two clergymen who attended his foundation-stone-laying ceremony for the proposed Babri Masjid were not from Saudi Arabia. One was from Murshidabad and the other from Midnapore, though they had learned holy lessons in Madina, Saudi Arabia. He claimed that Siddikullah Chowdhury was responsible for this fiasco because he had placed faith in a middleman sent by Siddikullah Chowdhury.

However, Siddikullah Chowdhury brushed aside the allegation and said, “I was never connected with him. He falsely used my name!”
