Bihar Minister Nitin Nabin Appointed BJP's National Working President
At present, Nabin is the PWD minister in Bihar and MLA from Bankipur in Patna

NEW DELHI: Marking a generational shift in the organisational leadership, the BJP on Sunday appointed 45-year-old Nitin Nabin, a Bihar Cabinet minister and five-time MLA, as the party's youngest national working president. Nabin is likely to be elevated as party president eventually. He is also the party’s Chhattisgarh in-charge, winning the state for the party earlier this year.
Announcing the appointment, party general secretary Arun Singh, in a notification, said that the BJP's parliamentary board has appointed Nabin national working president with immediate effect.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Nabin and highlighted his organisational experience and record as legislator and minister. Union home minister Amit Shah noted that Nabin’s appointment was an honour for every young BJP worker who works tirelessly day and night.”
BJP insiders claimed that the appointment of the 45-year-old leader reflected the party’s focus on capable leadership and signals a generational shift in helming the party’s top role. “Nabin is young, dynamic and ideologically rooted. He is deeply committed to the organisation, and his tenures as a minister in Bihar and his role as the Chhattisgarh prabhari (in-charge) have been truly outstanding, marked by effective leadership and organisational strength,” the BJP insider said.
“Nabin, who hails from the Kayastha community, is likely to succeed incumbent Nadda as full-time president after January 15. He is one of the youngest leaders to occupy the post,” a party leader said.
Nabin has served as a minister in the Bihar government multiple times and is a five-time MLA. At present, he is the PWD minister in Bihar and MLA from the Bankipur constituency in Patna. He is also the party’s state in-charge of Chhattisgarh. He is credited for bagging two Assembly seats in Sikkim for the first time during his stint as the BJP in-charge of the state.
According to BJP leaders, Nabin carries a lot of experience in governance and working for the people and the organisation. He has also worked extensively for Yuva Morcha and has experience of being a state in-charge as well. His father Navin Kumar Sinha was a senior BJP leader and represented Patna West for multiple terms.
Nadda greeted Nabin and said he was confident that the party will attain new heights under his leadership.
"I am fully confident that under the guidance of the esteemed Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji and your leadership, the organisation will reach new heights with the sentiments of nation-building and public service. Heartfelt best wishes for your illustrious and successful tenure," Nadda said.
Nadda was appointed BJP president in January 2020 and has completed his full term. He was granted extensions to lead the party through the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
“Shri Nitin Nabin Ji has distinguished himself as a hardworking Karyakarta. He is a young and industrious leader with rich organisational experience and has an impressive record as MLA as well as Minister in Bihar for multiple terms. He has diligently worked to fulfil people’s aspirations. He is known for his humble nature and grounded style of working. I am confident that his energy and dedication will strengthen our Party in the times to come...” Modi posted on X.
Welcoming the appointment, Union home minister Amit Shah said: “Whether as national general secretary of the BJP Yuva Morcha, state president of the Yuva Morcha in Bihar, or state in-charge of Chhattisgarh, he has fulfilled every organisational responsibility with complete dedication and success. His appointment as national working president is an honour for every young BJP worker who works tirelessly day and night.”
