322 deputy collectors sent to Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad: After a long-drawn process stretching three years, the allocation of deputy collectors between TS and AP is now finalised. The Centre’s department of personnel and training (DOPT) issued a notification allocating 322 deputy collectors to AP and 214 to TS
After bifurcation, both states were allotted deputy collectors on order-to-serve basis after taking their opinions into consideration. The final allocation was delayed over the issue of promotions which triggered a dispute between direct recruits and promotees. The dispute was resolved after the AP government put out an order on promotions.
The sub-committee entrusted with the task of finding a sharing formula, consisting of officials from AP, TS and the Centre, finalised the allocation of deputy collectors two days ago and forwarded the decision to the Centre for approval.
The DOPT officials said after final allocation issued by the Centre less than 10 per cent deputy collectors may have to be transferred from AP to TS and vice versa. The DoPT said the final notification will not come into effect in respect of any person who had obtained a stay order from a court against his allocation to any of the successor state, till the time such a stay was vacated.
According to DOPT, any person who has been allocated under Section 77(2) of the AP Reorganization Act will continue to work in his present state till the allocation order is passed by the Centre.
