Dharma will win in Huzurabad bypoll: Etala
Hanamkonda/Karimnagar: The money and liquor distributed by TRS leaders was nothing in front of the love and affection shown by the people, BJP leader Etala Rajendar said on Saturday. “Dharmam is going to win in the byelection.”
Rajendar alleged that the TRS had misused its political power and spent crores of rupees and distributed vast quantities of liquor, while issuing hundreds of government orders to try and woo the voters. Elsewhere, TRS leaders even threatened voters at their houses, he said.
“The people who tolerated all the cruelties of the TRS leaders came forward to support me,” Rajendar told mediapersons after casting his vote along with his wife Jamuna at Polling Station No. 262 in Kamalapur mandal of Hanamkonda district on Saturday.
He alleged that police escorted the vehicles of TRS leaders who distributed money and liquor. “Democracy felt ashamed of the TRS,” he said.
“Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao misused power and illegal income to prevent me from entering the Assembly,” Rajendra said. “But the people are fully aware of the cunning methods and gimmicks of KCR.”
TRS leaders lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against Rajendar for speaking to the media, alleging that it violated the model code of conduct..
The Kamalapur police seized a vehicles belonging to Rajendar's convoy and took his public relation officer Chaitanya into custody. The police said the vehicle did not have a number plate.
TRS candidate Gellu Srinivas Yadav and his wife Swetha offered prayers to a gas cylinder symbolically in his house and cast their vote in his native village Himmatnagar of Veenavanka mandal.
Srinivas Yadav told the media that the BJP leaders were creating nuisance at polling stations. He alleged that BJP leaders who came from outside were distributing money and putting it on TRS leaders.
