Telangana Congress slams Kakatiya project

They alleged that the state government had spent Rs 2.5 crore on one tank under which no irrigation is carried out.

Hyderabad: Congress MLAs on Monday dubbed Mission Kakatiya as a “commissions Kakatiya’ project and demanded that a House committee be set up to probe allegations of poor planning and irregularities in its execution.

Speaking to mediapersons, Congress legislators Dr J. Geetha Reddy and T. Jeevan Reddy said the work was taken under Mission Kakatiya where water was not available.

They said that the government was not in a position to reply to the queries raised by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) on Mission Kakatiya.

They alleged that the state government had spent Rs 2.5 crore on one tank under which no irrigation is carried out.

They said the government was releasing money to contractors though they had not completed the work, and asked if it did not amount to corruption.

Dr Geetha Reddy and Mr Jeevan Reddy said that the government was claiming that 10,709 tanks had been repaired at a cost of Rs 120 crore. They said they would inspect the work carried out on those tanks. The claimed that Mission Kakatiya work was being undertaken only at the tanks proposed by TRS leaders.
