Congress alternative to TRS: Revanth Reddy

Two, former TD MLAs, Vem Narender Reddy and Boda Janardhan, a former minister, were present.

Hyderabad: Some Telugu Desam leaders led by Mr A. Revanth Reddy announced that they were joining the Congress to take on the TRS in the state.

The announcement was made at a meeting at Mr Revanth Reddy’s residence, that was attended by TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and TPCC vice-president Dr Mallu Ravi, who formally invited them into the Congress.

Two, former TD MLAs, Vem Narender Reddy and Boda Janardhan, a former minister, were present.

Mr Revanth Reddy said the Congress which had granted Telangana statehood alone was the political alternative to the TRS. He accused the TRS of having tie-ups with both the MIM and the BJP.

He said there was no possibility of the TD fortunes improving in the state as its leaders wanted to strike deals with TRS president and AP Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

Mr Revanth Reddy praised TD president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu as a “towering leader in Indian politics” who had renounced the offer to become Prime Minister for the sake of development of Andhra Pradesh.

He said while Mr Naidu was working hard, his counterpart in Telangana state was making mockery of all values, institutions and even the new state.

He said a majority of his followers and leaders had supported joining the Congress in order to rid the state of TRS rule. He ended his speech by chanting “Jai Sonia Gandhi” and “Jai Rahul Gandhi”.

Mr Revanth Reddy along with a few leaders will join the Congress in the presence of party vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday at the AICC headquarters in Delhi.

Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy said that some TD second rung leaders like zilla parishad and mandal parishad members, will not be travelling to New Delhi.
