TRS our main rival, says BJP; Ram Madhav in charge of North Telangana
Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Dr K Laxman, said on Wednesday that his party had taken a policy decision to go alone in the coming elections, and was ready both organisationally and politically on the ruling TRS.
In an interaction with media persons on Wednesday, Dr Laxman said that the BJP’s central leadership had identified those who would lead the party to victory in the state.
"BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav has been put in charge of North Telangana to strike at the TRS bastions of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Medak and Zaheerabad," Dr Laxman said.
He said that Union minister Narender Singh Tomar and national secretary Mangal Pandey would be in charge of five Lok Sabha seats each and Union minister Bandaru Dattatreya of Secunderabad and Hyderabad.
Madhav’s responsibility would be to ensure the BJP’s victory in the constituencies held by the TRS’s key leaders B Vinod Kumar (Karimnagar) and K Kavitha, daughter of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (Nizamabad).
Admitting that there was some reason to believe among BJP state leaders as well that the BJP may ally with the TRS because Rao had been praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and had extended support to demonetisation and GST and voted in favour of the BJP’s candidates for President and Vice President, Dr Laxman said, “With our party president Amit Shah’s open declaration, and as state party president, I am making it clear that the BJP will go alone in the coming polls. No alliances with anyone. We consider TRS our political enemy.”
Speaking about rival parties, he said that the people were vexed with the Congress so there was no question of it regaining people’s confidence. The Telugu Desam was very weak, so it was clear that only the BJP was the political alternative in Telangana state.
