BS Yeddyurappa plans rallies to stop KSE's Sangolli brigade
Bengaluru: In an effort to thwart party leader and former deputy chief minister K.S. Eshwarappa from gaining political mileage by organizing rallies under the banner of Sangolli Rayanna Brigade, state BJP president B S Yeddyurappa on Tuesday announced that various wings of the party would hold a series of rallies across Karnataka before September 30.
He told the media after chairing a meeting of heads of all Morchas here: “all leaders in our party are united, and there is no confusion amongst us. Conduct of rallies by various Morchas has no connection with proposed rally of party leader K. S. Eshwarappa-headed Sangolli Rayanna Brigade.”
The former chief minister said he has directed heads of all Morchas to organize their respective state executive committee meetings on or before September 15, and districts and taluks level rallies on or before September 30.
In line with this decision, people belonging to various sects of Scheduled Tribes would converge at Lingasagur on October 23. “I have asked leaders of ST Morcha to bring more than one lakh people to this rally. Likewise, the party has also decided to organize mega rally of OBCs in Bengaluru on November 27. For this rally, the leaders will assemble more than 1.25 lakh people,” he added.
Mr. Yeddyurappa charged that the Congress government in Karnataka had failed to implement central sponsored programmes effectively. The government also failed to release interest subsidy of over Rs 480 crores sanctioned by the Union government to farmers, he added.
He alleged that the state government has not spent funds of over Rs. 22,000 crores released by the Union government, but had parked the funds illegally in various banks.
On wresting the key post of Mayor in the BBMP in the forthcoming elections, Mr. Yeddyurappa said “local leaders of Bengaluru will take a call in this regard. I have asked city unit leaders to take an appropriate decision. Regarding alliance with JD(S), party leaders will take a decision. We have entered into alliances with other parties keeping in mind local factors, but the political scenario in Bengaluru is different.”
