Two former Cong MLAs from Adilabad join BJP
HYDERABAD: The BJP is confident of winning all 10 MLA seats from the unified Adilabad district in the next Assembly elections, state party president G Kishan Reddy said on Monday.
Speaking to mediapersons after two former MLAs from Congress party – S Sanjeeva Rao from Chennur constituency, and A Sridevi from Bellampalli constituency - Kishan Reddy said the party was united, and was getting stronger across Telangana and in the erstwhile Adilabad district and the joining in the BJP by two leaders from the SC community will boost the party in the district.
Kishan Reddy also said the BJP was in support of the rights of the Lambada community and their reservation under ST category in the state. Distancing the party from the BJP MP from Adilabad Soyam Bapu Rao who said Lambada community was stealing reservations meant for adivasis, Kishan Reddy said Bapu Rao’s comments in Delhi a day before, did not have the party’s sanction and anything said by the MP were to be seen as his personal observations.
“We will find out why he made the statement,” Kishan Reddy said, even as he reiterated his party’s commitment to ST reservations and full support to the Lambada community in Telangana.
Mancherial district BJP president V Raghunath Reddy said some ten other leaders from Congress were set to join the BJP soon. “The Congress party has been wiped out from the district and it will be the BJP that will win all MLA seats from erstwhile Adilabad,” he said.
