It has become a habit for Congres, JD(S) to play divisive politics'

The government failed to establish a medical college in Haveri though the BJP government had sanctioned it when it was in power.

Hubballi: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP and BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje has alleged that it has become a habit for both the Congress and JD(S) to play the game of divisive politics.

Addressing mediapersons in Davangere, she said that her party had protested against the attempt to divide Bengaluru into three parts and had also opposed the Congress conspiracy to divide Veerashaiva-Lingayats using the Lingayat religion tag.

Another BJP leader and former minister C.M. Udasi too opposed the statehood demand saying that the party will fight for redressal of regional imbalance in the legislative session. Clarifying that party leaders will not take part in the bandh on Thursday, he suggested that CM Kumaraswamy should make an honest effort to become the CM of 6 crore people of the state and not only of JD(S) workers.

However, Haveri BJP MLA Nehru Olekar backed the demand for statehood while holding Chief Minister Kumaraswamy responsible for neglect of the region. He warned that voices for a separate state will get louder if the state government did not set right the injustice caused to people of the region.

The government has accorded step-motherly treatment to North Karnataka as it has not released adequate funds and also not did not make any mention of major projects for the region in the Budget. The government failed to establish a medical college in Haveri though the BJP government had sanctioned it when it was in power, he said.
