Subrahmanya, Farooq JD(S) Council picks
Bengaluru: After facing much pressures from all quarters, the JD(S) has shortlisted industrialist Mr B.M. Farooq and former BBMP Commissioner Mr S Subrahmanya as nominees for the Council polls in which it can easily win two seats. Sources said a decision on cabinet expansion would be taken only after AICC President Mr Rahul Gandhi returns from his US trip.
Chief Minister Mr H.D. Kumaraswamy, who held a meeting with party patriarch Mr H.D. Deve Gowda and legislators, said that Mr Gowda had been given full power to take decision on the two issues.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting his father, the CM said the final list of portfolios to be allotted to JD(S) members was not yet ready. “We have 11 berths and the portfolios have to be decided. Mr Deve Gowda will finalise the list in a day and cabinet expansion will be completed after that,'' he said. Sources in the party said that there were some ‘touchy issues' regarding cabinet allocation between the two parties which Mr Gandhi has reportedly promised to look into once he is back from the US.
