Hyderabad: Uttam Kumar Reddy says free power too was said impossible
Hyderabad: Reacting to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s calling it a gimmick, TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress would stand by its promise of waiving of loans worth Rs 2 lakh of each farmer after coming to power.
He said that the Congress in the past had promised free power to the agricultural sector and had implemented the measure. He said the Congress would waive the farmers’ loans under any circumstances.
Mr Rao had said that the Congress’ promise to waive the loans was a gimmick and the party would not be able to implement it if it formed government.
Mr Reddy said that by the time the Congress comes to power in 2019, the state Budget would reach Rs 1.90 lakh crore and waving of Rs 2 lakh farm loan would not be a problem.
Mr Rao had no habit of implementing promises given to the people and thought the Congress would behave similarly, the TPCC chief said at a protest programme demanding a medical college at Sangareddy.
The TPCC chief said that it was unfortunate that a hunger strike had to be conducted to demand a medical college for Sangareddy, which would benefit the people in eight Assembly constituencies.
Mr Reddy said that if the state government did not respond to the demand, the Congress one month after coming to power would will set up a medical college at Sangareddy. He said that in 2019, Congress leader Onteru Pratap Reddy would defeat the Chief Minister at Gajwel.
