BJP demands inquiry into TRS’ power misuse

TRS had distribution of crores of rupees to lure voters and did not give any heed to the complaints lodged by Opposition parties.

Hyderabad: Seeking the intervention of Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan in protecting the Constitution, the state BJP demanded a high-level inquiry into the irregularities, misuse of power and violation of constitutional norms by the TRS in recently held civic body elections.

A delegation led by state BJP president Dr K. Laxman met the Governor at Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum detailing the alleged irregularities, misuse of official machinery and unconstitutional and undemocratic methods used by the TRS.

The state BJP leaders are likely to visit Delhi and submit a memorandum to President Ram Nath Kovind and Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu on the Thukkuguda municipality case, which the party lost despite having the numbers.

Addressing the media at Raj Bhavan, Dr Laxman said the party had urged the Governor to seek an explanation from the TRS government. He alleged the TRS had distribution of crores of rupees to lure voters and did not give any heed to the complaints lodged by Opposition parties.
