JAC to press for Status, stir in Delhi on Feb 11

Vijayawada: The all party meet conducted by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to chalk out an action plan to press the Centre to accord Special Category Status and provisions of the AP Reorganisation Act, on Wednesday had no representative from the prime political parties. YSRC, Congress, Jana Sena and both Lefts parties boycotted the meeting citing various reasons.

However, the meeting decided to launch a Joint Action Committee.

The meeting also decided to hold protest programmes from February 1 to 13 during the Parliament budget sessions. On February 11, there will a protest programme in Delhi in which CM N. Chandrababu Naidu, along with state Cabinet ministers will attend. On February 12, an all party delegation led by Mr Naidu will go to the President of India with a charter of demands on SCS and AP Reorganisation Act.

Naidu said that political parties didn’t attend the meeting due to political reasons. He said that the cases that were booked earlier on those who protested in support for SCS in the past would be lifted. The issue would be discussed in the cabinet meeting scheduled for Thursday. Later a G O would be issued on the issue.
