What are origins of Sonia, Rahul Gandhi? RTI in Mandya

In the wake of this, the petitioner chose to poke fun at three activists.

Bengaluru: An RTI application was filed before the Mandya deputy commissioner on Tuesday, purportedly to embarrass the chief minister and a few social activists. C.T. Manjunath of M.C. Road, Mandya was the one who sought details of origin of Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and K.C. Venugopal.

In the petition, addressed to chief minister's media relation officer, Mr Manjunath said that as rightly pointed out by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, BJP national president Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath were not from Karnataka and were trying to hurt Kannadiga sentiment by attacking him.

But anyone going through the details of the petition can make out that it was filed to take pot-shots at the chief minister.

Claiming that some local Congress leaders were spreading rumours that Mrs Sonia Gandhi belonged to the family of Sanne Gowda of Sante Tonnur and Mr Gandhi was from Rajanna's family of Rayashettipura and Mr Venugopal belonged to the Patel family of Bannur, he asked, "Are they Kannadigas? Please provide information."

He asked whether the government appointed Jignesh Mevani, Prakash Raj and H.S. Doreswamy as the investigation officers in the Gauri murder case.

While participating in the Gauri's birthday function on Monday, they alleged that Gauri's murderers were from Dakshina Kannada district.

In the wake of this, the petitioner chose to poke fun at three activists.
