Stage set for DYFI national meet in Kochi
KOCHI: Kochi is all set to host the 10th DYFI all-India conference from February 2 to 5. The formal launch will be held at 6 pm February 1 at the Fidel Castro Nagar (Marine Drive) with CPM district secretary and reception committee chairman P. Rajeev hoisting the flag. Rallies started from Koothuparamba, Aruvippuram and Kanyakumari will culminate here in the evening. The delegates meet at the Rohith Vemula Nagar (Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium) Kaloor at 9.30 am the next day will be inaugurated by former Supreme Court judge Justice Gopal Gowda.
The keynote address will be by eminent scientist Dr Pushpa Mitra Bhargava through video conferencing. The meeting will be attended by slain Govind Pansare’s daughter Megha Pansare, Narendra Dabholkar's son Hamid Dabholkar, former DYFI all-India president M. A. Baby, Assembly Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan, and others, including student leaders.
CPM politburo member Prakash Karat will inaugurate the "secular conclave" at 5 pm on February 3 attended by Prof M. K. Sanu, director Kamal and Swami Sandeepanandagiri. On February 5, a rally will be held at 3 pm followed by a public meeting inaugurated by CPM general secretary Sitaram Yechury. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, M. A. Baby, M. B. Rajesh and Avoy Mukherjee will speak.
