J-K govt formation: Mehbooba Mufti to chair PDP core group meeting
Srinagar: People's Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday will chair a meeting with senior party leaders to discuss government formation in the state.
This will be PDP's first formal meeting after the death of its chief Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
The PDP has 28 ministers in the state assembly and needs 16 members to form the government. The state is under the governor's rule.
Earlier, the PDP had taken a firm stand and asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party should give out concrete assurances for implementing the coalition since it is in power at the Centre.
However, BJP's staunch silence on the matter indicated that the state can be under the Governor's Rule for a longer period of time.
Governor's Rule was imposed in the state on January 8 after the death of then Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
