Removing barricades at Pragathi Bhavan a brave move: CPI

Karimnagar: CPI state secretary Chada Venkat Reddy termed the removal of barricades at Praja Bhavan — previously known as Pragathi Bhavan, the former chief minister’s official residence — as a great and brave move by A. Revanth
Reddy on the same day when he took oath as Chief Minister of the newly-formed Congress government.

Speaking at a party meeting in Peddapalli district on Saturday, Venkat Reddy said that the CPI had staged dharnas demanding the removal of the iron fencing surrounding Pragathi Bhavan laid by the BRS government, which
imposed restrictions on the entry of common people into it. But the KCR-led government never bothered.

“However, as soon as the Congress government came to power, the initiative of CM Revanth to remove it was shocking at first but won the hearts of the people including me,” he said.

The Congress played a big brother role in the formation of the INDIA bloc with like-minded parties, which are enjoying equal importance in discussions on various issues across the country. The CPI is also mulling joining the
INDIA and will take a decision very soon, he said.

Pointing out that the alliance of the CPI with the Congress in the Assembly elections played its role in dethroning the BRS government and forming the Congress government in the state, Venkat Reddy said that the state treasury
was emptied during the BRS rule. On the other hand, the people have pinned a lot of hopes on the Congress government and its Six Guarantees, he said.

He opined that the Revanth Reddy-led government was constructively taking steps and expressed confidence that it would lead the state towards development.

On the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the CPI functionary alleged that Narendra Modi was adopting several wrong methods to score a hat-trick as Prime Minister. If the BJP comes into power again, it will kill the
democracy in the country and deprive the people of their rights in the country, he said.
