TIRUPATI: Former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and Telugu Desam (TD) party president N. Chandrababu Naidu has promised to provide 20 lakh jobs to youth and unemployment allowance of Rs 3,000 per month to jobless people if the TD-Jana Sena alliance comes into power.
Addressing a public meeting in his home constituency of Kuppam on Friday, Chandrababu slammed the current YSR Congress party government led by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy over lack of jobs and industrial development in the state. "Has this government provided a single job to youth or has any industry set up a unit in any part of the state?" Naidu asked the gathering. He accused the CM and ministers of only being interested in protecting their own jobs.
Naidu assured implementation of all promises made to the people as soon as a TD-Jana Sena alliance forms government. He specifically assured good roads, jobs for youth, strengthening of exports, construction of an airport in Kuppam and more.
The TD chief said that the YSRC has no future and its leaders do not command respect even within the party. "A leader like CM Jagan is not fit for politics. He has come to power only to loot the state," Naidu remarked. He also criticised the Land Titling Act, which he claimed as an illegal act aiming at illegally occupying lands.
Exuding confidence in returning to power, Naidu claimed his Kuppam constituency will give him a victory margin of one lakh votes. He asked why the area has been neglected under CM Jagan’s rule despite being a "laboratory for the Telugu community" where Israeli agriculture technology was first introduced.
The former CM accused the government of stalling the remaining 13% work of Handri-Neeva project and endangering public money by starting other irrigation projects without proper permissions, leading to a Rs 100 crore fine by the National Green Tribunal. He accused the local YSRC minister of being more interested in looting granite reserves than serving people.
Naidu pointed out the alleged illegal quarries being operated in the region and questioned why no action has been taken despite his complaints earlier. He slammed the government for calling tenders worth Rs 2,002 crore for the Avulapalli Project without paying compensation to displaced people or taking proper permissions.
