Naidu alleges Jagan attempted to kill him, Lokesh

VIJAYAWADA: Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu has alleged that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had attempted to kill him and his son Lokesh on lines similar to the death of former minister Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy.

On the first day of his three-day tour of the West Godavari region on Wednesday, the former chief minister kicked off the party’s campaign titled ‘Idemi Karma Mana Rashtraniki’ at a public meeting in Vijayarai village.

Referring to the Supreme Court order to transfer the Vivekananda murder case to Telangana state from AP, Naidu asked the Chief Minister to either respond on the issue or quit his post. He asked whether the Chief Minister was having eligibility to rule the state.

He said, “I hear people saying Jagan Mohan Reddy is unfit to rule the state.
He tried to mislead the people on the murder of his uncle.”

Naidu praised Sunitha, daughter of the slain former minister, for taking up the case of his father to the Supreme Court to get justice in the hope that the assailants and other culprits would be punished. “YSRC leaders tried to tamper with the evidence in the case and even threatened the witnesses of dire consequences if they revealed the facts,” Naidu alleged.

Naidu explained about the campaign taken up by the party to expose the misdeeds of the ruling YSRC government and called upon the people to extend
their support to the campaign. He said that if Jagan Mohan Reddy was elected
once again, “AP would be having no capital.”

Referring to the pace of works for execution of the Polavaram irrigation project, the former chief minister said, “We had completed 72 per cent of the project works while in three and half years of the YSRC rule, the Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government failed even to repair the damaged diaphragm wall and failed to provide relief and resettlement package to the project-affected people and take up rehabilitation works to them. This even as the Centre was funding the execution of the project.”

Naidu said that the per capita debt on each farmer in the state was Rs 2.7 lakh because of the “mismanagement” of the state’s finances by the present government. He flayed the government for fixing meters to the farm power connections, causing trouble to the farmers.

The former chief minister alleged that a large number of innocent people were being arrested in the state by implicating them in false cases. If Jagan Reddy is having the support of the police, I am having the support of the people,” Naidu claimed.
