Cong take out protest rallies against Dharani

HYDERABAD: As part of ongoing campaign against Dharani portal and problems faced by farmers, Congress leaders on Wednesday held demonstrations and submitted memorandum to revenue officials across Assembly constituencies.

The protest programmes were carried out in Husnabad, Wanaparthy, Manthani,
Peddapalli, Mancherial, Medchal, Chennur, Balkonda, Makthal, Yellareddy,
Banswada, Kodangal, Manakondur, Dubbaka, Godavarikhani and scores of other
constituencies.

Led by the party's local leaders, the rallies attracted participation of thousands of party activists and farmers. They submitted memorandum to revenue officials demanding that the government resolve farmers' issues particularly those which have cropped up due to Dharani portal.

At Husnabad, former MP Ponnam Prabhakar alleged that TRS was trying to
hoodwink farmers with new names for schemes, without any substantial benefits. Adding insult to injury was the Dharani portal that has left farmers to fend for themselves.

Manthani MLA, D. Sridhar Babu said that Podu lands issue has created conflict with the government. The government is not keen on resolving the issue, he said.

Other leaders who participated in the statewide agitation included seniors Ponnala Lakshmaiah, J. Geetha Reddy, A. Sampath Kumar, Vamshi Krishna, and S. Anvesh Reddy.
