TRS hurting tribals, says M Kodandaram
WARANGAL: Adivasis have lost thousands of acres of land in the name of preserving trees. But a lot of trees have been cut down for development projects taken up by the TRS government, Telangana Jana Samithi chief Prof. M. Kodandaram pointed out on Thursday.
He was addressing a public meeting at Bhupalapalli in support of Mahakutami candidate Gandra Venkata Ramana Reddy. He said the Adivasis faced a lot of problems during the TRS rule. Podu farmers were deprived of their rightful land. The forest officials drove them away. In the name of updating the land records, several adivasis were asked to let go of their lands, he said.
Criticising Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao for not being concerned about tenant farmers, he said Mr Rao was acting as if tenant farmers were not farmers at all. “Is someone not a businessman if he runs a company on rented land? Will someone not be called an educationist if they run a school in a rented building,” he asked.
He pointed out that Mr Rao had failed to address the issues of the Singareni Collieries workers and others. “Now he is saying let TRS come to power once again, we will solve your issues,” he said.
