Chandrababu Naidu convinced MLA to accept YSRC leader

New entrant will not be a threat.

Anantapur: Anantapur urban MLA V. Prabhakar Chowdary was convinced by party supremo and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu about inviting former MLA B. Gurunath Reddy into the party. Mr Prabhakar Chowdary had been against the YSRC leader's entry into the Telugu Desam in the wake of the ongoing controversy and protests over Missamma Building and surrounding lands in heart of the town.

The urban MLA had reportedly spoken about the entire episode of controversy wherein the former MLA family was enjoying from the illegal occupation. This would mark a remark on their political career. That would also reflect on Telugu Desam if the former MLA family was to be allowed to shift its loyalties to TD. Because of this, the party cadres were seriously fighting against the YSRC leader for the past four years.

Sources said that the party chief spoke to the urban MLA Chowdary on Wednesday and assured him that the government would never interfere into land controversy. The Chief Minister further also assured Mr Chowdary that the former MLA Gurunath Reddy and his family members would work under the headship of the sitting MLA. The former MLA would not be given any chance to contest as MLA from Anantapur by denying Mr Chowdary the opportunity in the coming general polls.

“Chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu cleared about the episode and I have no objection about joining of the YSRC leader into the party,” Mr Chowdary said. A group of leaders including several Municipal corporators led by B.Gurunath Reddy rushed Amaravati to shift loyalties into Telugu Desam on Thursday.
