Hyderabad: Congress MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy accused Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao of intimidating the Munugode voters. He said it was ridiculous of Rao to blame the Opposition for the lack of development in the constituency.
In a media statement after the CM’s public meeting at Munugode, the Congress leader said, “His tone was highly intimidating. By stating that Opposition parties will not be seen in Munugode after the election, and that he will get back control of the constituency, KCR has indirectly threatened the cadre and supporters of other parties. This is highly intolerable and the Election Commission should take note of it," he said.
The Congress MP said that the TRS and the BJP were trying to distract attention from the real issues in the name of 'Operation Lotus' and 'Operation Farmhouse'. “Everyone knows that both TRS and BJP don't believe in the politics of ethics and morals. KCR has engineered the defection of 47 MPs, MLAs and MLCs in his first term. After winning the second term, he again engineered the defection of 12 Congress MLAs. The BJP has toppled the elected governments in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and other states”, he said.
Congress Munugode candidate Palvai Sravanthi, who attended the Bharat Jodo Yatra of party leader Rahul Gandhi, felt that Rao’s public meeting was a 'huge flop'. “Several videos have been posted on social media platforms showing how people were paid Rs 500 each to attend TRS meetings. The TRS and The BJP can mobilise crowds by spending money, but they cannot win the hearts of Munugode people who have already decided to vote in favour of the Congress,” she said.
