Amrapali Kata posted to Cabinet Secretariat

The Telangana state government has relieved her for central deputation.

Hyderabad: Telangana state cadre IAS officer Amrapali Kata, who was looking forward to being posted as officer on special duty (OSD) to Union minister of state for home G. Kishan Reddy, has instead been appointed deputy secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat, New Delhi, which is responsible for the administration of government of India and functions directly under the Prime Minister.

A 2010 batch IAS officer, Ms Kata had been working in the ‘peshi’ of Mr Kishan Reddy in New Delhi for more than two months though there were no official orders appointing her. The Telangana state government has relieved her for central deputation.

According to the orders, Ms Kata has been selected under the central staffing scheme for a period of four years. The appointment has become the talking point among the IAS and IPS fraternity back in Telangana.

Interestingly, Mr Kishan Reddy had handpicked Ms Kata and another Telangana state cadre IPS officer Ambar Kishor Jha for the post of OSD and private secretary respectively.

In the case of Mr Jha, who too had left Telangana state and had started working in Mr Kishan Reddys’s office while awaiting formal orders, the Centre recently issued orders posting him in the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D).
