Jana Sena wants CBI to probe land allotment in Daspalla layout

VISHAKHAPATNAM: Senior Jana Sena leader P.L.N. Murthy Yadav has
on Friday written to the CBI director seeking a probe into the proposed
allotment of 16.27 acres of land in the posh Daspalla layout of Visakhapatnam
to a real estate company.

Murty Yadav, a GVMC corporator, told this correspondent that private owners have entered into an agreement with company Assure Estates Developers LLP, promoted by a former IRS officer and a textile merchant of Visakhapatnam, to pass on the ₹2,000 crore worth of land, listed under Section 22A, to the company.

The Jana Sena leader alleged that the AP government, instead of safeguarding the public interest, is in the process of delisting and handing over the land stuck in a legal dispute to the retired IRS officer and textile businessman.

The said land is in survey numbers 1027, 1028, 1029, 1196 and 1197. The government had listed it under Section 22A way back in 2001. Now, Murty Yadav said, the government has prepared the ground for removing these survey numbers from the Section 22A list.

In all, 60 acres of land had been listed under Section 22A. GVMC, VMRDA and Eastern Naval Command have acquired about 40 acres of this land. The government has kept around five acres for its various needs. The remaining 16.27 acres of land is on the verge of being handed over to the real estate company, the Jana Sena leader said.

Rajya Sabha member G.V.L. Narasimha Rao pointed out that lands in possession of over 30,000 people are under Section 22A. They have long been fighting with the government for delisting the land. But now, the government is rapidly preparing the ground for removing the Daspalla lands from Section 22A, so that they could be handed over to the real estate company.
