TPCC ready with campaign slogan

n The main slogan of TPCC is “people's agenda, people's manifesto and people's government”.

Hyderabad: The state Congress election campaign committee has decided to take up canvassing for the upcoming Telangana state Assembly elections in a big way. As part of its efforts, it will be hiring helicopters to fly leaders across the state.

The committee headed by Mr Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka held its first meeting on Saturday at Gandhi Bhavan that was attended by TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, TPCC star campaigner and former MP Vijayashanthi and others.

The meeting decided to use three helicopters for the election campaign, one each for the campaign committee chairman and the TPCC chief and the third one for AICC leaders.

Mr Vikramarka said that the main slogan of the TPCC would be ‘people’s agenda, people’s manifesto and people’s government.” He said that the TRS government’s rule was against the wishes of the people.

He said that the agitation for Telangana statehood was based on the demand for water, funds and jobs (neelu, nidhulu, niyamakalu) but Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao had negated this.

The fallout of this was that the new Telangana state was confined to four persons. He said that the state was formed for the self respect of the people, he said.

Mr Vikramarka gave a call to the people who had participated in the Telangana movement along with the Congress to end Mr Chandrasekhar Rao’s dictatorial rule. He said that AICC president Rahul Gandhi and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi would also campaign in the Assembly elections.

Earlier, Mr Vikramarka held discussions with poet and revolutionary Telugu balladeer Gaddar. He said that Gaddar’s thoughts and that of the Congress agenda were similar. He called Gaddar to come join the Congress leaders in their election campaign.

TPCC star campaigner Vijayashanthi, adviser to the TPCC campaign committee, said the people were ready for war on Mr Chandrasekhar Rao’s family in the elections. She said the people had achieved a separate Telangana state after a long battle but “a dictator” was ruling the state.

Campaign committee co-chairperson D.K. Aruna said that Mr Chandrasekhar Rao and the TRS had no right to ask people to vote for them. She said that the Congress would expose the misrule and cheating of the TRS government in their campaign.
