BJP Hammers on 'BRS-Cong Are One' Theme

HYDERABAD: Locked into a triangular contest with the BRS and Congress, the Telangana BJP appears to have decided making its ‘BRS-Congress jodi’ allegations stronger with state BJP president G. Kishan Reddy, and his predecessor Bandi Sanjay Kumar calling on the people to be watchful of the BRS-Congress alliance and not trust them with their votes in the upcoming Assembly elections.

Both leaders were speaking at an event at the party headquarters where Dr. Ch. Vikas Rao, son of former Maharashtra governor Ch. Vidyasagar Rao joined the party. He is expected to be the frontrunner for the party ticket from Vemulawada constituency where former Karimnagar zilla parishad chairman Thula Uma was hoping to contest on the party ticket.

Kishan Reddy, Sanjay, and other party leaders who welcomed Vikas gave enough indications while welcoming them into the party fold that Vikas would be the party candidate from Vemulawada constituency declaring that his entry strengthens the party’s winning prospects in the constituency.

The constituency is currently represented by BRS party’s Ch. Ramesh, a relative of Vikas. Ramesh was denied the party ticket for the coming election with the BRS selecting Chalmeda Lakshmi Narasimha Rao. The Congress is yet to announce its candidate for the constituency.

Kishan Reddy pointed out that BRS and Congress had fought elections together in the past. Their DNA is the same and they are the same. It is only the BJP that can put Telangana back on rails after the BRS government bankrupted the state in the last nine years, he said.

“The Kalvakuntla government cannot even meet its daily expenses. All states have land banks and here every piece of government land is being sold away. Without selling land and liquor, Telangana government cannot pay salaries and meet its day to day expenditure,” he said.

He also said that “Rao and BRS leaders have no moral right to criticize the '200 reduction in cooking gas cylinder prices. The state government has not reduced prices on petrol and diesel despite the Centre doing so. The cost of petrol and diesel in Telangana is the highest in the country.”

On the BRS-Congress connections, Sanjay said that Union home minister Amit Shah in the Khammam public meeting had laid bare how these two parties work in tandem.

“Only the BJP can take on the BRS and people should understand this,” he said.

Vikas said he will accomplish any task given to him by the party and will go to the people with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan of ‘sabka saath-sabka vikaas’.
