Thiruvananthapuram: ‘Go for green buildings’

The CM hinted that the government is considering the introduction of the pre-fabrication method in the LIFE mission projects.

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has asked people to take note of the recent natural disasters and reassess the procedures regarding the construction of buildings accordingly.

The government would support those who use construction procedures that ensured that the natural resources are not exploited, Mr Vijayan said. The CM hinted that the government is considering the introduction of the pre-fabrication method in the LIFE mission projects.

A committee headed by K P Sudheer will study this subject. Geologists, IIT Chennai and member secretary of disaster management will be part of this committee. The meeting also decided to rename the VJT hall in Thiruvananthapuram as Ayyankali hall, said Mr Vijayan.

Mr Vijayan said that civil defence units with volunteers will be formed for disaster management under the fire and rescue department in all the 124 fire and rescue stations.
