Power staff hits out at Revanth Reddy
Hyderabad: Electricity employees staged a dharna at Vidyut Soudha and shouted slogans against Congress MP A. Revanth Reddy for his statement accusing TS Transco and Genco managing director D. Prabhakar Rao of allegedly overseeing a scam in the power sector.
Mr Reddy had said, “Prabhakar Rao should be shot dead near the Martyrs’ Memorial for making false statements regarding power purchase agreements.
Prabhakar Rao is speaking lies to the public and helping Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao to loot money in power purchase deals. Thousands of crores in long-term agreements are leading a burden on the state exchequer.”
Mr Reddy had claimed that 1,000 MW was purchased from Chhattisgarh to help the Adani group. A total of Rs 1,200 crore was allocated which will be a burden on the people of Telangana. Telangana can get the lesser price in the open market to purchase the power but government is purchasing at higher prices.
Electricity employees warned the Congress MP that if he did not tender an immediate apology, strict action would be taken.
Employees union leader Medi Ramesh said Mr Prabhakar Rao was serving the state by working day and night. “If Revanth Reddy doesn’t accept our demand then the future activity will be announced unless apologies are made.”
Electricity employee Ratnakar Rao said, “Inappropriate comments should be withdrawn immediately.”
