Bengaluru: Political rivalry can sometimes almost border on the comical. While former Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah recently poked fun at fellow Kuruba leader , K S Eshwarappa, saying his tongue and brain seemed to lack coordination, the BJP leader got his own back on Thursday , calling him the "dumbest of politicians."
Labelling him a mere Kuruba community leader, he accused Mr Siddaramaiah of thoughtlessly "wagging his tongue," and claimed it was this that had cost him his Chamundeshwari constituency and the position of Chief Minister.
“It is true that I said Siddaramaiah was the man who began Operation Lotus. Till he jumped from the JD(S) to the Congress, no one took party hopping seriously. If money was given to Congress legislators for switching loyalty (by the BJP) , how much did Mr Siddaramaiah get to join the Congress?'' he demanded.
If Mr Siddaramaiah now talked about his party taking action against its disqualified MLAs, he too should have been thrown out of the JD(S) for his "anti-party activities," he contended. “We agree that our government came to power due to dissidence in the Congress and JD(S). But we respect our loyal workers and give them good positions. Mr Siddaramaiah does not have to worry on that count,'' he said.
Questioning the Congress leader's commitment to any political ideology, Mr Eshwarappa recalled he had started with the Janata Parivar. moved to JD(S) before forming the ABPJD and then joining Congress.
