Fulfil promises, Uttam Kumar Reddy tells KCR

Mr Rao was silent on his election assurances of waiving loans worth Rs 1 lakh of each farmer, Mr Reddy said.

Hyderabad: In an open letter to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday, TPCC president and MP N. Uttam Kumar Reddy demanded implementation of the assurances given to farmers.

Mr Rao was silent on his election assurances of waiving loans worth Rs 1 lakh of each farmer, Mr Reddy said. The Rythu Bandhu scheme has not reached farmers. He demanded immediate release of the money to more than 50 lakh farmers.

Similarly, Mr Reddy said that farmers holding more than 5 acres did not get a single paisa so far. He asked the Chief Minister to clarify whether farmers owning more than 5 acres have been removed as beneficiaries of the Rythu Bandhu scheme.

The TPCC chief also pointed out that the land rectification drive of the TRS government was a failure and revenue records were not set in order even after 14 months. He said this had badly affected lakhs of farmers as they were being denied financial assistance under the Rythu Bandhu scheme and crop loans for lack of new patta passbooks.

He asked the Chief Minister to take immediate steps to resolve the issues. Else, Mr Reddy feared that delay in release of Rythu Bandhu funds and crop loan waiver might again push the farmers in huge debt traps.
