CPM Rejects BRS Offer of One Seat in Ensuing Assembly Elections

HYDERABAD: Left party leaders, who helped BRS in winning the Munugode by-polls, have reportedly refused Chief Minister K. Chandrasjekar Rao's offer of one seat in the ensuing general elections.

Left parties, especially the state CPM has started consulting district leadership to go it alone in Telangana.

Sources said that Rao offered a 'single seat' to the CPM party to contest in Telangana of the total 119 Assembly seats. The BRS also sent a proposal to provide two MLC seats to the party if they support the ruling party in the ensuing elections.

"We have refused the Chief Minister's proposals. Discussions are still on and will take a final decision," CPM sources said.

CPM and CPI together worked in defeating the BJP candidate Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy in Munugode by-polls.

Denying speculation that there was a big communication gap between BRS and CPM, the latter’s politburo member B.V. Raghavulu, who attended a meeting in the city on Sunday, said that they are preparing to contest on their own in 20 seats.

"We will work with the BRS if they extend support to our agitations against the BJP," Raghavulu said.
