Karimnagar: The Telagnana Udhyama Akankshala Vedika (TUAV) will strive to end the "family rule" of the state by the TRS government, its leaders declared at a round-table conference here on Thursday.
“The dreams and aspirations of the ordinary people were not realized even after the formation of the separate Telangana state. The need now is to start one more movement to end the family rule,” those who led the meeting said.
The discussions were led by the coordinator of the Vedika and journalist Pasham Yadagiri under the aegis of Gade Innaiah at a private function hall.
The participants said the time has come to unitedly fight against the TRS government. “During the separate Telangana movement, various sections of people came onto one platform. They won statehood after facing a lot of hardships, but the fruits of statehood are enjoyed by only one family in the state,” they said.
MLC Jeevan Reddy, former MP Prabhakar, former ministers Chandrasekhar and Vijayarama Rao, former MLA Shoba, former chairman of assembly council Swamy Goud, TD official spokesperson Ambatijoji Reddy, president of Telangana Journalist Welfare Association Venkateshwar Rao, senior journalist Sampath Kumar, Srisailam, Manmadha Rao, and BJP leaders Mahender Reddy, Srinivas Reddy and Sridhar were among those present.
The participants said: “When thousands of people sacrificed their lives for achieving separate Telangana, only the KCR family is claiming the credit and appropriating the benefits. The family is also trying to suppress leaders who are opposing them.”
They said five women leaders played key roles in the separate Telangana statehood movement. They were Belli Lalitha, Meera Kumari, Mayavathi, Sushma Swaraj and Sonia Gandhi. People of Telangana would never forget them, the participants said.
They said, “The present rulers of Telangana State are not focusing on how to provide financial stability to the poor and the economically backward sections. “There are those who can raise questions against the rulers. Using political and police power, the TRS government is harassing the unemployed youths and leaders of Opposition parties and is trying to stifle their voice.”
“Starkly, leaders who strongly opposed the separate Telangana movement and who insulted and thrashed the people who participated in the movement are now ruling the state,” the participants at the meet said....
