Two key leaders skip TPCC poll meet
Hyderabad: The TPCC on Saturday decided to follow a “select-and- elect” system for selecting candidates for the ensuing municipal elections.
At an extended TPCC executive committee meeting held at Nagarjunasagar on Saturday, the party has decided to involve all senior leaders to ensure that the party puts up a good show in the municipal elections.
AICC general secretary and Telangana Congress affairs in-charge R.C. Khuntia said the TPCC should conduct this type of meetings every month and TPCC, coordination and working committees should play key role in the municipal elections.
TPCC President N Uttam Kumar Reddy said District Congress Committee (DCC) extended meetings should be conducted from July 1 to 4, and from July 5 to 10 in all municipalities.
There are 40 municipalities in the erstwhile Rangareddy and Nalgonda districts.
The meeting has decided that TPCC chief Uttam Kum-ar Reddy, MPs Komatireddy Venkatareddy, A. Revanth Reddy, former MP Konda Vishweswar Reddy should take care of electioneering.
However, senior Congress leaders like V. Hanumantha Rao and Ponnala Lakshma-iah did not attend the meeting, while TPCC Campaign Committee Chairperson Vijayashanthi did not get an invite. Earlier also, she was not invited to the meeting as she is not TPCC office bearer.
When asked, she said, “TPCC might have thought that my role is confined to only campaign.”
