Renovation costs kept to the minimum: CM Pinarayi Vijayan

The amount spent on house maintenance was less compared to the Rs 1.1crore spent by the previous UDF government.

Thiruvananthapuram: The LDF government has so far spent Rs 35.9 lakh for the maintenance of official residences of the chief minister and ministers and another Rs 35.4 lakh on the swearing-in ceremony of the new government, Chief Minister Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan informed the Assembly on Wednesday.

The amount spent on house maintenance was less compared to the Rs 1.1crore spent by the previous UDF government for the purpose in 2011, the year in which it came to power.

It may be recalled that the LDF had decided only to have minimum maintenance works of ministerial houses. Hence no renovation works were done. Of the Rs 35.9 lakh spent on maintenance of 19 residences, Rs 32.6 lakh was on civil works and Rs 3.3 lakh on electrical works, according to the written reply of the Chief Minister to Congress MLA Shafi Parambil.

Of the Rs 35.4 lakh spent on the swearing-in ceremony, the major chunk of Rs 30.8 lakh was spent by the Public Works department, Rs 3.65 lakh by the tourism department, Rs 81, 280 on Suchitwa Mission and Rs 20,000 by general administration department, the chief minister said in a written reply.
