MK Stalin charges AIADMK govt with backing BJP

The centre also refused to provide relief funds for cyclone Vardah and the severe drought.

Chennai: Coming down heavily on the state information department for its plans to prepare the success stories of the Centre, Leader of Opposition charged the AIADMK (Amma) government with backing the BJP government which is acting against Tamil Nadu on Cauvery dispute, hydrocarbon project and drought relief.

Describing AIADMK’s support to the BJP government as a betrayal of Tamils, Stalin said the rulers are only trying to wriggle out of the I-T raids and corruption charges against them and accused the BJP of ruling the state through the backdoor.

He recalled that the Union government refused to set up the Cauvery Management Board, despite the order of the Supreme Court and said it also signed the agreement for hydro carbon project, despite the opposition of people.

The centre also refused to provide relief funds for cyclone Vardah and the severe drought. “But, the action of the centre which ignores the interests of Tamil Nadu appear to be success stories for the AIADMK government”, Stalin said.

Charging the state government with mortgaging the mandate of Tamil Nadu people to the BJP, Stalin said the ministers are indulging in praising the Union government every day, which amounted to deceiving the people.

The AIADMK government should explain to the people what happened to demands given in their petition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, before preparing success stories for the BJP, he added.
